Excellet for kids December 28, 2008 Shiva Sandy (Reston, VA) I got this for my toddler (18th months) to encourage him to read. He loves it. Every mornign he comes down and sits at his table and reads.
It was easy to put together and the company is very responsive. I highly recomend the product and the company
Rock solid, easy assembly, one slight safety concern December 22, 2008 Tom D (Columbus, OH United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very pleased with this, rock solid. Beautiful finish and well made. I'm not sure what one reviewer's reference to glue is about. This doesn't need any glue. All the holes matched easily, the assembly instructions are clear but you'll barely need them. All screw locations are recessed so the screws are flush, nothing sticks out. An Allen wrench comes with it and that's all you'll need for assembly. It took 25 minutes to unpack and assemble.
There's a warning on the Amazon web page about small parts, but that can only apply prior to assembly. If properly assembled, this table and chair set won't come apart in normal use and there are no other small parts.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission doesn't seem to have any specific recommendations on child chairs. They recommend the maximum distance between slats/posts on a crib be no more than 2 3/8 inches (60mm). The distance between the chair back and chair seat is 5". The distance between the bottom of the chair seat and the lower seat leg stiffiners is 5 1/2 inches. That's information, not a criticism. It's conceivable a child could get their head stuck. Make your own judgement. I would have preferred smaller openings.
The box says it's for ages 2 to 5, but once a child can sit up alone most will be OK with this. The seats are low of course.
Great Little Table and Chairs November 21, 2008 Stacey L. Davis (Cypress, TX USA) This table and chairs set is perfect for my 17 month old. He loves it. The first night we had it he cried when I took him out of the chair to take a bath. It was very easy to assemble. It only took me 15 minutes even with my son's "help"! I would recommend this for young toddlers. It is the perfect height for them to climb in and out of the chairs with ease and the chairs are large enough and sturdy enough for them to be able to turn around to a sitting position after climbing up without falling. I think the price is a great deal for the durable and hefty wood you get.
Screws missing November 17, 2008 DC mom I ordered this set for my son - and when the package arrived, we realized the hardware (screws, washers, etc.) were just strewn inside the large box, not in a plastic bag or anything and some were missing. I found a washer on our front step - it had obviously fallen out of the box. Annoying, since that could have easily been avoided if packed properly.
I called KidKraft and asked them to overnight the replacement hardware. The first customer service woman said she was not authorized and could only send it three day mail. I then asked for and spoke to a manager who was happy to oblige.
So the table, I think, will be great once it's fully set up. It looks durable and smooth and is a nice size for my 2 year old.
Good Quality Table, Fast Assembly, and Nice Small Size November 12, 2008 Heather Negaard 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just recieved this table and chair set in the mail today.
I was really impressed with the quality. The wood is beautiful and has a nice thick smooth finish that appears very durable. The table and chairs are sturdy and very well balanced.
The assembly instructions are very short and simple 2 steps for the table and 3 real steps for the chairs. Assembly requires no tools and the hardware comes with an allen wrench. I got it together in less than thirty minutes with a nagging toddler on my neck and little assembly experience. The chairs take 6 screws and one bolt to hold together four pieces, and the table takes only 4 bolts to attach the legs.
Initally I thought the legs for the table didn't fit into the slots under the table top. I looked closer and saw that the legs actually rest outside the triangular supports instead of inside where the were just slighlty too big to fit without a mallet. I damaged one leg doing this as after I hammered it into place I screwed in the bolt and split the wood. The way it should have gone is with part of the long bolt showing underneath and the leg unsupported until the bolt holds it into place.
Customer support is fast and friendly but they had a hard time hearing me and I had to repeat myself several times. They agreed to ship me a spare leg without argument. I just had to give them the product ID code and my name and address. They said it will come in 7-10 days and gave me a confirmation code. Customer sevice call took less than 3 minutes the phone rang only once and I was never put on hold.
